Match Report
Bilton Grange Boys-U10B vs  Stoneygate School
On: Wednesday, 02 Oct 2019
Venue: at Home

The match displayed end to end action. Tommy ran through quickly to score the first. Then Stoneygate were quick to level the match with a try of their own. Alejo then ran through all defenders to take the lead for BG once more. The BG boys started to realise that tackling was essential to start controlling the match. Rupert led by example and made three crunching tackles in a row. Each tackle was followed by a concerted effort to secure the ruck through Michael, Frankie and Alex. Alejo made the most of the extra possession and ran through again to score. Stoneygate soon broke through the score the second but Tommy struck back to ensure the try count kept ticking over for BG. Stoneygate continued with their 'go forward' approach and were able to steadily gain ground up towards the BG line. Luca worked hard to tackle as did Elliot but Stoneygate scored their third. Stoneygate were keen to win the ball back in the ruck area, but due to a quick Rupert turn over, Elliot was able to sprint away with the ball to score a final long range try. Result - 25-15 win. Rupert was nominated man of the match.

The final third of 15 minutes was manufactured to level the ability and ensure all players had match play. Mr. Hickman masterfully rolled each of players on and off the pitch to ensure the match remained a challenge for both teams. The BG boys were also given the condition of passing 3 times before a try was allowed. The match was fiercely contested via the ruck, maul and in the tackle area. It was great to witness the boys slotting into positions that had been predetermined. Stoneygate set the ball well at the ruck and were able to secure possession. Some high tackling by BG allowed Stoneygate to gain the ball to score their first try. BG fought hard through Ruridh, Xander and Rob. Jake was soon on the end of a string of passes which allowed him freedom to burst down the line and level the match. Soon afterwards, Orlando was able to produce a similar try. Result - 10-5 win.
