Match Report
Bilton Grange Boys-U13A vs  Framlingham College Prep School
On: Friday, 04 Oct 2019
Venue: at Home

On Friday the touring side from Framlingham Hall ran riot against BG’s 1st XIII. Although the 50-5 scoreline was not flattering, this, in fact, the team’s best performance of the season and the players were more upbeat than after the win two days earlier.

Framlingham had a number of big, fast runners and were especially dangerous down the left wing where BG’s tackling was not at the standard of the visitors’ attacks. They were 6 tries up at half-time. What was encouraging from the BG players was the improved organisation and pressure, which meant that the tourists were sometimes forcing the play and making mistakes. BG’s attacks were also more cohesive. The other area that Bilton needed to improve was support of the ball-carrier: the boys from Fram regularly jackled the ball, or one player would clear out a ruck because BG’s body position were too high.

Most of that can be improved with practice and the players were pleased that the targets they had put in place for Wednesday’s game were achieved in Fridays. It was a testing match but one the team enjoyed despite the result.
