Match Report
Bilton Grange Boys-U13A vs  Swanbourne House School
On: Saturday, 14 Sep 2019
Venue: Away

Bilton Grange’s 1st XIII had to rely on passion and power to chalk up a win in the first match of the season, winning away at Swanbourne House by 30-0.

Both sides looked like new patterns of play were not yet embedded and the game became a bit of a battle, with boys picking up bumps and bruises from the physical nature of the game and a pitch still quite firm after the Summer. Swanbourne’s backs were a little better at getting the ball wide but BG had bigger ball carriers and it was two of those, Finn and Samuel L, that scored tries after bursting through the defence to give the visitors a 10-0 half-time lead.

In the second half Swanbourne turned up the pressure and BG had to scramble in defence a few times. As the game opened up, so Bilton’s runners found more space and the team picked up four more tries. Alex had a cracking second half and deserved his try, while Samuel picked up a second and Finn completed a hat-trick of scores.

Scrumming went very well and BG picked off the opposition's ball on a few occasions, and some forwards, worked hard and providing clean possession.
