Match Report
Bilton Grange Girls-U11A vs  Bablake School
On: Wednesday, 22 May 2019
Venue: at Home

This was a very entertaining game of rounders that from the perspective of the BG girls was dominated by their fielding performance rather than batting prowess. As in the match against Maidwell Hall, the 2nd innings fielding showed great improvements in all areas. Catches were cleaner, throwing more accurate and positional awareness more thoughtful. Georgia Toms and Bea Leyland took some good catches in deep field leading to us dispatching all of the Bablake batter before the 30 good balls were bowled. Unfortunately we were unable to back this up with the bat and we struggled to get any meaningful purchase on the ball besides on the odd occasion meaning we were very much reliant on notching up half rounders and no-balls by the bowler - of which there were few. The Bablake bowler delivered a fast-paced ball, causing our batters problems and primarily leading to lots of backward hits. Keira earned 'batter of the match' for some well placed balls and rounders scored and Libby 'fielder of the match' after her consistent bowling and intelligent play. Having done work on batting in training this week, the girls need to continue to develop the timing of their hit and to direct the ball more carefully away from 2nd post to enable more rounders to be scored. Well played girls, despite the loss, more pleasing improvements.
